In 1968 Mattel rolled our their diecast model range, Hot Wheels. Since then the Hot Wheels brand has grown dramatically and many enthusiaistic kids have turned into loyal collectors as adults.

In 1989 Mattel acquired Corgi Toys Limited, a British maker of scale diecast model cars.
